When should you get started? (10.23.2016)

Right now. Have you ever heard of paralysis of analysis? I’ve always struggled with waiting until I was ready and had it all figured out, but I don’t think waiting is the answer. When I started building this site three days ago, I wasn’t sure what look I was really going for or what I’d post about, but I knew I had to get started, because it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for the past 3 years.

As I took this photo, it was simply the 51st day in a row that I had taken a photo for the personal project that I started this April. As I thought more about it, I thought about why only this single corn stalk grew from last years crop, even though the ground was tilled up and none of its neighbors survived.

This stalk of corn is you. It represents the uncomfortable experiences life has put you through, and it’s your second chance that life has given you. It’s the 1% that achieve their dreams, because it’s the 1% that go after them and don’t quit. It may be small compared to some other crops, but it can’t be expected to grow at the same rate. The watering conditions are different, the soil is different, and the sunlight may not have shined on it as much.

As long as you don’t quit and don’t stop growing, your life isn’t over. You might not have grown to your fullest potential last year, but this is your year. You don’t need anyone to start with you either. It’s up to you to take control of your life. Make it happen, ask for help, and never stop growing.
